I walk around the small town where I live, frequently. Near the end of last year, I saw this small dead bird -

Looking at the photograph, afterwards, it reminded me of something D.H. Lawrence once wrote: “I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.”
