Bugs Show 'Insect'

thanks Barrie ... ah yes, saw a few at Shapwick this time last year and got an ID from Birdforum; I really must take my memory pills ...

an old friend, the Marmalade hoverfly

This is our old friend the Marmalade hoverfly feeding on Bindweed pollen.

Taken this morning on a Panasonic G1 with 45mm, f/2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit

Barrie

Thanks.
It is a native wild flower in England called Meadow Cranesbill ( Geranium pratense)

BTW If you find those ladybird nymphs in your garden it is good news because they eat literally hundreds of greenfly each.

I posted these yesterday in a seperate thread without realizing that there was a thread dedicated to insects.

This is sorta a repost.

This one was taken at 150mm with the 40-150 4/3 Oly lens. Not really the right lens for this, but it came out ok.

thanks ... Damselflies are good for this, they aren't too "nervy" and have a habit of once having found a perch, coming back to it ... I think this one is a Large Red by the way, but no doubt Barrie will confirm or correct
