Rome: Done the street stuff, now for the ancient stuff. Incredible sights here just walking along the streets. The Colosseum, The Forum and the Pantheon to name a few. Sure, London has history and great historical buildings of huge importance…..not just to us….but also the world. However, bang for buck in such a small stretch of rubber neck inducing neighbourhood is fantastic
The Vatican doesn’t feature too much here in this post…... and I was very disappointed with the Sistine Chapel. After all the hype we received from our guide and other people…..all we got was “Silence” shouted from a mic by the uniformed ushers/guards. The hub-bub from visitors was low and didn’t warrant the bellicose barking at them. It made me want to get together a coach load of Tourette sufferers and march them through
St Peter’s was stunning but a bad bout of sciatica laid me out as we left. I had bent to tie a lace when…..bang……an electric shock fizzed up the back of my thigh and into the small of my back.
On the other hand, we visited St Giovanni Laterne (St John Laterne) the Cathedral of Rome……..the seat of the Pope as Bishop of rome. A full choir was in full flow with the most beautiful accompanying music from a small orchestra. I was completely mesmerised and so at peace that my troublesome left hand Parkinson’s tremor completely stopped. I sat….listened and stared at the stillness of my palm and fingers and hoped against hope that I had been miraculously cured. Fat chance! I moved to stand up and bish—bash—bosh….there it was again! I looked up and silently chided Him for arsing around with me……but also thanked him for my pulse, breath and the love of a good woman and family.
Any-old-hoo…..photographs…..image heavy!!!!!
