I spotted these rather large ant "igloos", about 3 feet in diameter and two feet high alongside the highway and all covered with snow. The light was good, so stopped for a few shots. There are several hundred of these hills in about a five mile section of this particular roadway. In the summer they are just alive with thousands of a nasty variety of red and very aggressive ant.
