The Nikon 'A' is probably unmatched in image quality for camera size. I should have snagged one of those $400 offers.
The GR matches it. I prefer the controls of the Nikon, but there isn't anything between them in terms of IQ.The Nikon 'A' is probably unmatched in image quality for camera size. I should have snagged one of those $400 offers.
Here you go - Samy's is still selling the silver one for $399...http://www.samys.com/p/Digital-Point--Shoots/26424/COOLPIX-A-Digital-Camera-Silver/122234.html

I don't think they ever made enough of them to shift production anywhere... In any case, enjoy it for as long as you have it. I'm sure it won't touch the Q in a lot of ways, but for my purposes, it's more than good enough (particularly in combination with my DF) and the size is a nice thing...I bought it! Now, I'm still unhappy that Rollei shifted production of their pocket 35 film camera and cheapened the quality of it, so many years ago. And on that note, I'm hoping this is the original production quality 'A' made in Japan, or if shifted elsewhere, it's exactly the same or better quality.
I expect to use it some side by side with the 28 mm Leica Q, then donate it to my photo club in Ohio.

I really like the Coolpix A. I can't compare it to the GR, but in absolute terms it's a fun camera to use, I like the output, and it fits in my pocket.I bought it!
