I don't actually have any pre-AI lenses, which are what the DF can take but other current bodies can't, so any other current FX bodies could use any of the lenses I'm using. Although the overhang in front of the mirror box on the other models pretty much blocks the view of the aperture ring, which would bug me, but probably not others. The thing that's shocked me is how much I'm enjoying shooting with manual focus lenses. The only AF lenses I use are the 24-120 zoom and a couple of cheap telephotos, and I don't use those much at all. I have a cheap 24 and cheap 50 with AF, but I have nicer MF lenses at both focal lengths, so I don't use those much either and may eventually sell them.

I never saw this coming when I decided to go with a DSLR... But except for two of my Zeiss lenses, all of my other MF lenses were dirt cheap.

Like Ray, i'm playing with a 50mm F1.2 AIS right now, sample shot showing sharpness at F4 below...great lens

Yeah, I certainly won't hesitate to buy something non-AI if I see something I'm interested in. I thought the 75-150 E lens was pre-AI, but it worked great straight away, without having to flip that little AI tab on the body...

All "E" series are technically AI....

You'd love our town then - we have so many of them from June through October it's not even funny. I can't even think of all of 'em but there are almost too many - about 8-10 per year - you actually get tired of seeing so many of the same old venders and, frankly, a lot of the same people. But we live about two blocks from the heart of the action, so any of 'em I'm in town for I usually walk up and check them out... We had our first of the season Thursday night and our first big all-day event tomorrow. And then they just keep coming with something happening every 2-3 weeks...
