Nikon Dust on Coolpix A sensor?

Location

Can Coolpix A users confirm whether whether this has ever been an issue or you are aware of this being an issue for anyone else. This was pretty much the only thing which made me refrain getting my wallet out for the GR, so it would be useful to get some feedback from the community.

I haven't had any in my two A's and I get a fair number of dust bunnies in my Df, so it's not because I'm in a particularly clean environment or am all that careful with gear. I stick mine in a pocket with god knows what else quite a bit. I've read of a few, but very few. It seems much less of an issue than with the GR, but that might just be because there are fewer A's in the wild? Maybe now that a lot of folks seem to be buying up the close-outs, we'll hear about more of them, but I haven't yet...

It's not immune to dust nor should you expect it to be. I've had a couple specks show up, but I only notice at very small Aprature, which I don't often use. There is a discussion on Flickr and it seems that nikon will warranty a dusty sensor mostly by just replacing the camera. I don't need a new camera for 2 specks of dust personally.

Bottom left corner in the snow is a dust speck, I was able use a vacuum cleaner over the lens, and now it's gone :)

Many thanks for the replies. Ray, I'm that guy too, putting the camera in the pockets & bag with everything else which hasn't been a problem with my mirrorless system, as any dust is swiftly moved by direct access to the sensor. Of course, no one expects any camera to be immune from dust, but it does seem that this is an issue that has been raised by GR owners whilst prior to this thread, there was not one concern or issue on the same subject that I could find from any Coolpix A users. I'm actually raising this query as part of my considerations for the new version of the Coolpix A which *should* be coming out later this year. Yes, I know that just because it may not be an issue with the current version that it won't crop up on the next version but still, every bit of info however seemingly small, helps. Thanks again.

I've seen a lot of the GR stuff and not much on the A, but I HAVE seen one or two in the Nikon Coolpix Forum on DPR, and given how little traffic this camera had gotten until recently, that one or two might have represented a similar percentage to the more numerous mentions on the Ricoh forum. Maybe not, but I don't want to give a rosier picture than may exist here - I just don't really know. But I'd say that ANY camera that has a retractable lens design is gonna be susceptible to getting dust in the camera, with the possible exception of those that are designed specifically to be completely dust and water proof, and I'm not all that sure about those. So if some potential future version of the A also uses a retracting lens, I'd say it's gonna have similar odds. Personally, I'd love it if they built it more like the RX1 with a solid hunk of glass hanging off the front, but I'm not holding my breath, because I think the pocketable thing seems to be a driving factor. I'm personally happy enough to have the little G7X as my pocket camera (and I've read a report or two of dust in those too, as with the RX100 models) and wouldn't mind a future Coolpix A doing away with pocketability and go for a really stellar and faster lens, like on the RX1...

Then again, I have two of the current model and, unless they do something really surprisingly awesome with a replacement, I'm likely to sit tight. I'm waiting for someone to come out with a full frame fixed lens like the RX1, but with a 24-28mm lens and a set of controls closer to Nikon than Sony, specifically regarding auto ISO features. Short of that, I'm pretty happy with what I've got...

Got note today from Nikon Service Point that my camera is repaired and on its way home. The e-mail includes (translated from Dutch):
'Lens unit replaced, camera checked and adjusted, firmware updated; ... the lensunit is the unit of lens, shutter and in some cases the imagesensor'.
No costs because of the 2 year Nikon Europe warranty.
