Apple OS X 10.10.3 and Photos.app

I had some old photographs in an iPhoto library (from before I got back into photography about five years ago) and a pretty good sized Aperture library from the first couple of years after I did before I switched over to Lightroom. When I wanted to get at something, I'd just open Aperture, from which I could access both libraries. But with all of this stuff happening with "Photos" taking the place of both iPhoto and Aperture, I just exported all of this stuff and created separate Lightroom catalogs for them. Aperture and iPhoto and all of their associated files are now off of my Mac. I obviously lost the non-destructive edits I'd done in Aperture, but I generally finished up with one of the Nik plug-ins anyway, so I still have finished jpeg versions of all of that work anyway. If I need to re-edit the raw files, I'm better off just starting over in Lightroom, which I much prefer anyway... I should have done it a while ago, but thanks for the heads up Sue. It was a good motivator for me...

With Aperture, I always would export and then use photoshop or Nik and then import back the final.
So I think this new photos app is going to be alright. Super fast on my MacBook Pro.
Sticking with apple here, and still not going to buy into the Adobe subscription model.
The older version CS5 Photoshop works fine for my needs.
